May A. Freitas (she/her/hers) is a Native and Latina American writer based in Reno, Nevada. She writes creative nonfiction and poetry which centers around trauma. Her poems "Me Too" and "Mama Bear" were published in Voices Literary Magazine, and last November, her poem “Enough” was published in Half and One Literary Magazine. May has BA in creative writing from UC Santa Cruz and her MFA in creative writing at the University of Nevada, Reno at Lake Tahoe (Formally Sierra Nevada University). Currently, she teaches writing at the University of Nevada, Reno and is a senior poetry editor at Sierra Nevada Review.
